If you let each package put them wherever it wants you can end up with a bunch of folders scattered all over the place which can be confusing. Some want to put them where Cubase does, some where theyвЂ™ve detected another folder with VSTs, and others want a special unique folder all of their own. 3rd party installers are all over the map on where they want to put their VSTs.

However for ease of maintenance and keeping things tidy you probably do want to organize them into folders that make sense to you, just like you presumably do with all the other docs on your computer.

IвЂ™m not an expert but I would imagine the computer might run faster if there is only very few VST folders as opposed to a whole bunch of them?ДЄs far as Cubase is concerned it doesnвЂ™t really matter where you install them - except you shouldnвЂ™t mix 32 & 64. Would it be better to have just ONE general VST folder for 64bit plugins and another one for 32bit plugins as opposed to having several different plugin folders all over the place? I will have some 32 bit and also some 64 bit VST files, do they have to be installed into separate folders? Is there a wrong and right way? or does it even matter where to install the VST files? Should all VSTвЂ™s go into the same folder, being one single folder? My question is: where is the best place to have the VSTвЂ™s installed? Should I always just use the default-path thatвЂ™s suggested by the VST plugin-installer? In the past I have had some confusion with regard to the path of installing the VST-plugins. I just recently upgraded my PC, got a new hard drive and am about to re-install all my music software and lots of VST insturments/plugins.
